SHAH ALAM EXTREME CHALLENGE , 2008 (Page 2)

Onto
the next category, we have 18 contestant for Open division and again only 10 seleted for the finals. Sorry to Haziq, Nazirul Muben, Muhammad Ridhwan, Fadely, Fazerudin, Lutfi, and most shocking was Qhairul Annas and Muhammad Alif (who were top 3 during the 1st bowl contest) for didn't made it to the finals. Anyway, I have seen a lot of changes and improvemet for this division. Let's begin with 10th place from Mr. Asrul Abas (Olliecat Master), the oldest contestant of all. He started off with BS 50-50 grind, then axle stall, blunt stall transfer off the spine and turn back did an early grab transfer, etc. Not bad for an old timer. Then, on the 9th place - Wild Channel only skater Dominique Teoh, did a smith stall transfer, boardslide transfer, FS lipslide, also attempt a tailtap but bailed off the deep end coping. Coming up number 8th was Erma Hanis, this kid smile a lot while skating even during the competition. He had so much fun. I like seein him doin the classic FS layback rock n roll, BS 50 slash grind (note: BS 50 grind and BS 50 slash grind is different). Then we have the newly Olliecat members; Ahmad Firman aka Kecik Bangi. Yup, this is a comeback of Kecik Bangi with his new Glam Rock image. Damn, he was good during the practise but not during the real event which is really dssapointed. Anyway he did a BS 50-50 grind on the corner deep end coping, early grab melon 360, FS grind, ollie to fakie and more. 2 points away from Kecik Bangi was his ex-team mate from Blacksmith Imperial (now also Olliecat) Mohd Zulhisham aka Jojo. Started off from the deck ollie off into the shallow bowl, FS 50 grind, BS 50 rind, Ollie transfer, ollie to fakie, huge early grab BS air on the deep end bowl, and others. On the 5th, Mus from Olliecat team did improve compare to last time too with tricks like salad, FS 50 grind, K-grind on the shallow, boardslide, kickflip transfer, and more. Coming in number 4th was Fairuzal Hamid (they called him the robocop skater) from Triangle team. Did tricks like Melon transfer, Rock n Roll on the deep end, alley oop grind, BS disaster, truck driver transfer, etc. 3rd place was his eldest brother Arina Fikri, which pretty suprising when we saw him ride the classic Powell G-Bones 80's wheels. His 2nd run was a perfect clean run with FS air on the deep end, Lien to tail, Fs ollie, Lien tailslide, boardslide to fakie and more. Even tough he did a perfect run but still not a clean run. I think Arina need to improve more on his pushing and carving. Coz from all of the skater here in finals. Only him did steps (touches) his foot on the ground in the bowl to gain speed. This is bad for a bowl contest or run. Unless you push it on / above the deck not in the bowl flatground. Please remind that. 2nd place and 1st was a hard decision for us and both of them had 0.5 score different. Anyway we end up choose Sharir 2nd place. Shahrir also performs much better than his previous entry contest. He managed to performed FS 50 grind, Melon transfer, nice rock and roll on the deep end, early grab FS air, nose grind transfer, blunt stall to grab to fakie, skid slide transfer, etc. Lastly, punk rocker Muhammad Fikri who turn up late during the prelims without enough warm up. Suprisingly he made it into the finals and won the title. Fikri aka Usher had nothing to prove since the bowl is to easy for him. He did a BS 50-50 grind on the corner deep end coping, did a chinese spine transfer (not nollie since he didn't pop it), FS ollie over the deep end, BS disaster, blunt stall 180 out, kickflip, Lien to tail, and more. Well i can't say much now since it has been 2 months. If you wanna find out more about bowl or pool skating and the name of the trick. Next time make sure you showed up at the Bowl contet. Below are the results:

1st - Muhammad Fikri aka Usher (HUYO / Billabong) - 74
2nd - Mohd Shahrir (Olliecat) - 73.5
3rd - Arina Fkri (Triangle / Black Brigade) - 73
4th - Fairuzal Hamid (Triangle / Black Brigade) - 72.5
5th - Mustaqim bin Mazdki (Olliecat) - 72
6th - Mohd Zulhisham aka Jojo (Olliecat) - 68.5
7th - Ahmad Firman aka Kecik Bangi (Olliecat) - 64.5
8th - Erma Hanis - 60.5
9th - Dominique Teoh (Wild Channel) - 57
10th - Asrul Abas (Olliecat Master) - 49

Lastly, GAME of S.K.A.T.E. We have 5 groups and each of the groups consist of 3 skater. The best part was the group where Adam Zari managed to save his last word from eliminated. His group was the longest time to complete compared the others. Anyway, the champ for the event goes to Haziq from Zodyact Team. Last note for those who were there duing the event. If you really a TRUE local skater or TRUE local pros. Why can't most of you cooperate during the prizing ceremony by joining the crowds. Many of us witnessed that you guys just left. Not even try to be there to clap or cheer for your friends. Not even stand out there for Haziq (i think i only saw Am and one guy). I mean if this keeps going on i bet the scene will die really soon. If i had a camera that day and posted it here maybe people will think that our scene is small and boring with that few number of supporter. So is this what you called it Support Your Local Skate Scene? Hell NO!!! It's sad coz most of you who left were sponsored, owned a self skateboard brand or clothing brand. So asked yourself. I'm a bit dissapointed with the behavior and the attitude. If you are a nice guy or my friends or maybe their friends (those winners). You shouldn't be doin this!!!
